The head of the Communications Department of the Turkish Presidential Administration, Fahrettin Altun, said that the demand for Turkish TV series over the past three years has increased by 183%, which is an undoubted success of Turkish cinema.
According to him, about 1 billion people around the world watch Turkish TV series, and this is of great importance. Altun also noted that the series is a tool for opposing the system of cultural exploitation, global imperialism and attempts at cultural corruption.
The head of the Communications Department also touched upon the new series “Mehmed: Sultan of the Conquerors”, calling it a serious project that requires large investments. He expressed hope that the series will make a significant contribution to the popular culture industry, cultural accumulation and publishing life in Türkiye.
Altun emphasized that the plot of the series is based on the history of Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror and his achievements, in particular the conquest of Istanbul. He also noted that the series focuses on the period in which the rise of the Ottoman state began, and has many similarities with today, which gives it special significance.
The head of the Communications Department also noted the importance of the language of art and cinema. He stated that the Turkish film industry is developing and Türkiye is making serious investments in developing its brand.
Altun expressed confidence that the series “Mehmed: Sultan of the Conquerors” will make a significant contribution to the development of the Turkish brand and expand its presence at the international level.
