Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Healthcare and Medical Industry has published recommendations for the prevention and treatment of “acute seasonal respiratory diseases” in the newspaper “Neitralny Turkmenistan”. COVID-19 has not been mentioned.
The Healthcare Ministry has issued the following recommendations:
to wear masks and keep social distancing of 2 meters in public places;
to apply oxolinic ointment for elderly people and children;
to add garlic and onion to the diet and on a weekly basis eat national noodles with red pepper, which “significantly helps the recovery”;
to drink herbal teas, including liquorice root drinks based on the recipes of Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov from the book “Medicinal herbs of Turkmenistan”.
In March 2020, without mentioning coronavirus, the head of state said that smoking the premises with harmel is an efficient measure to prevent infectious diseases and that Turkmen noodles with pepper is an effective time-proven remedy which prevents colds.
In December 2020 President Berdymukhammedov discovered healing qualities of liquorice root, which, as viewed by him, is capable of curing COVID-19.
In August 2021 the epidemiological situation exacerbated in Turkmenistan.Hospitals are overcrowded, the death toll is on the rise and prices for antiviral medications have skyrocketed.
