The International Sand Sculpture Festival opens in Turkey

The 17th International Sand Sculpture Festival starts in Antalya. This year the theme of the event is “Space Adventure”.

As informs the “Anadolu” Agency the festival participants will try to set a new world record by creating a 50-meter sand sculpture in one day.The festival, which will be held on the local beach of Lara, will feature replicas of the Sputnik and Apollo space launch vehicles.

In total, 10 thousand tons of sand will be used to create sandy masterpieces.

It is noted that the guests of the event will be able to see the sculptures of the “Wright Brother”, “Yuri Gagarin”, “Apollo-11 and Neil Armstrong”, and also the characters of the cult films “Star Trek” and “Star Wars”. The 17th International Sand Sculpture Festival will open to visitors on May 1.
