The International Summit of Authorized Representatives for Human rights held in Baku

On 18 June 2026, the Authorized Representative for Human rights in Turkmenistan - the Ombudsperson of Turkmenistan Yazdursyn Gurbannazarova, participated in the International Ombudsmen Summit entitled “Human Rights in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Opportunities, Risks and Responsibilities,” held in Baku.

As part of the summit, thematic discussions were held on the protection of human rights in the digital space, including data protection, privacy, and combating disinformation.Participants exchanged views on the impact of artificial intelligence on human rights, emerging ethical challenges, and responsibilities in the context of rapidly developing digital technologies During her speech, the Ombudsperson of Turkmenistan shared the country’s experience in protecting human rights in the digital environment, promoting digital literacy and strengthening the role of ombudsman institutions in these processes.

It was noted that Turkmenistan places special emphasis on expanding opportunities for women in the field of technology.Supporting and encouraging the participation of girls and women in technical education and modern professions contributes to building a more balanced and equitable society.

Following the summit, the participants adopted the Baku Declaration on Artificial Intelligence and Human Rights.
