The American company Apple has patented a technology that will allow you to roll your iPhone into a tube, as if it were a blanket. The corresponding patent is published on the website of the US profile bureau, Gazeta.Ru reports.
According to the data in the document, the patent was filed by Apple in November 2022. The drawings show a rollable electronic display for a smartphone that uses thin glass and compression components to protect the screen when rolled up.
“The display can change states: when expanded, it is used for viewing, and when collapsed, it can be used for carrying and convenient storage. It is also possible to use an electronic device with a partially collapsed screen,” the document says.
The document also states that the patent is for conventional electronic displays. However, Apple specifically noted in the filing that the design could be used for smartphones.
As noted in the source, apparently Apple intends to use the technology to develop a future line of iPhones in a new form factor, which, according to rumors, companies such as Samsung and Motorola are already working on.
