On 12-13 May the working visit of Turkmenistan’s delegation to the Islamic Republic of Iran will be held.
Within the framework of the visit of Turkmenistan’s delegation to Iran meetings in a few relevant ministries are scheduled to be held, where the issues of Turkmen-Iranian cooperation will be included on the agenda.
After hearing the report on preparations for the visit by Deputy Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov, President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov emphasized “friendly, neighbourly and constructive nature of interstate relations”, the state information agency TDH reports.
Let us recall that on 27-28 March Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani paid the official visit to Turkmenistan.
According to Turkmen media outlets, at that time the leaders of the two countries did not discuss the gas dispute which started after Turkmengaz demanded that the NIGC settle the debt of $1,8.
As is known, Iran’s officials threatened Turkmenistan to refer the case to the International Court of Arbitration.
However, on 25 April NIGC managing director Hamid-Reza Araqi said that by May, Iranian and Turkmen experts will review Iran-Turkmenistan differences and the conflict might be resolved without referring the case to the court.
On 29 April he expressed doubts in the successful completion of the TAPI project and proposed swap deals to supply Turkmen gas to Pakistan.
