On 9 September the car rally “Amul Khazar” was launched in Turkmenistan.In the run-up to the event President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov held meetings with Director general and organizer of Africa Eco Race Jean-Louis Schlesser and “KAMAZ” CEO Sergei Kogogin, where the President presented them with a set of “Amul-Khazar” commemorative coins.
Turkmenistan hosted the briefing with Jean-Louis Schlesser, director general of “2018 Amul-Khazar car rally” Rene Metz and renowned athletes in attendance.
The state information agency TDH reports that the organizers handed out road books to crew members, explained the race rules and how to use CPS system on the track. Schlesser mentioned that if a crew assists another one, which gets in trouble, the lost time will be credited at the finish line”.
According to the media outlet, the opening ceremony of the car rally was held at “Baidak” square in Turkmenabat, where “welcoming signs and colorful banners featuring the landscapes of the Turkmen desert and emblems of the competitions had been installed”.
Lebap’s dance orchestra and artists performed a new song “devoted to “2018 Amul-Khazar car rally” to the car rally contenders and spectators.
President Berdymukhammedov addressed the car rally participants with a welcoming speech. The head of the state highlighted that the length of the track, which stretches along Turkmenistan’s historic sites, is 1571 kilometers and wished athletes good luck.
“Jean-Louis Schlesser arrived in the square driving a white “Lilcoln” convertible.
After thanking the president for organizing the rally he said that the event brought together over 500 participants of 25 ethnic nations.After that the head of the state gave his blessings to the festive parade of the car rally contestanta”, TDH reported.
