The Russian Embassy in Ashgabat held events to mark the onset of Orthodox Maslenitsa

The Department of Education, Science and Culture of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Turkmenistan held a number of festive events on the occasion of the onset of Orthodox Maslenitsa.

According to SNG.Today, both adults and children took part in the events.

First Secretary of the Embassy Yulia Zaitseva, addressing the guests, congratulated everyone on Maslenitsa week and wished that interstate Turkmen-Russian relations would develop successfully, and that the fraternal people of Turkmenistan would live in prosperity and well-being.

Guests were treated to traditional Russian pancakes, kvass, gingerbread and bagels. At the festival, cheerful buffoons staged practical jokes and danced in circles.

A corner for a face painter was organized for children, who painted the children’s faces to look like fairy-tale characters. After completing entertaining games and stage pantomimes, the participants began painting samovars, nesting dolls and balalaikas, the source notes.
