The sale of alcoholic beverages is forbidden in Turkmenistan until closing of the Asian Games

Alcoholic beverages have disappeared from shelves of Turkmenistan’s stores. RIA Novosti, quoting a source in the country, report that owners of retail outlets had received verbal instructions to stop selling alcoholic beverages until the closing of the Asian Games.

“A shop assistant from the Ashgabat stores says that alcohol will be on sale in October at the earliest”, the information agency reports.

This information was also confirmed by sources at “Chronicles of Turkmenistan”.

Turkmenistan’s state-run media outlets made no reports on the ban.
