According to a recent Bloomberg report, the second season of the sci-fi thriller “Separation” has become one of the most expensive series in television history. According to sources, director Ben Stiller significantly exceeded the budget for the first season, adding another 40 million USD to it. The production cost of one episode of the second season exceeded 20 million USD. This is comparable to the budget of an episode of “House of the Dragon”, but the latter significantly surpasses “Separation” in popularity.
Despite high costs, Apple TV+ is still struggling to attract a wide audience. The service accounts for only 0,2% of total television viewing in the United States.
Such significant investments in the continuation of the series raise questions about its future fate. Apple expects that the release of new episodes in January will significantly increase the project's audience.
