The state of Florida has banned children from having accounts on social networks

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed a law restricting children's access to social media. RIA Novosti reports this with reference to the governor’s website.

According to the new law, children under 14 years of age are prohibited from creating accounts on social networks. And 14- and 15-year-olds are allowed to register only with parental consent.

DeSantis noted that social networks can harm children. He believes that the new law will help parents protect their children from potential threats.

It remains unclear exactly how the law will be implemented. What mechanisms will be used to verify the age of users. It is also unclear whether social networks will be required to delete existing accounts of children under 14 years of age.
