Turkmen sportsmen won 42 medals of various denominations at the World Championships in contact jiu-jitsu, which concluded in Antalya, Türkiye.The competition was held under the auspices of the jiu-jitsu International Federation (JJIF) and brought together 245 athletes from 16 countries.
Following the tournament, jiu-jitsu masters from Turkmenistan won 14 gold, 11 silver, and 17 bronze medals, taking first place in the team medal standings.The Vietnamese team took second place (14 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze medals), and the Kazakhstan team rounded out the top three (10 gold, 13 silver and 16 bronze medals).
Particularly noteworthy is the versatility and excellent physical fitness of Turkmen athletes, several of whom successfully competed in several disciplines and age categories simultaneously.This triumph is further proof of the success of the comprehensive strategy for developing physical education and high-performance sports, as well as strengthening the standing of the country in the international sports arena, implemented under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Hero-Arkadag.
World Championships in jiu-jitsu (JJIF) have been held every two years since 1994 and consist of several stages depending on the different disciplines.The discipline of contact jiu-jitsu was introduced into the competition program in 2017.
