The Turkmen Energy Institute held a series of environmental conferences

A series of thematic educational and methodological conferences dedicated to the environmental Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN were held at the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan in the city of Mary, writes the “Neutral Turkmenistan” newspaper.

The conferences were held for students and teachers of the institute with the aim of in-depth acquaintance with the logic, objectives and meaning of each of the 17 SDGs. The events were also intended to illustrate how these international commitments are translated into concrete steps by Turkmenistan towards sustainable development.

One of the conferences addressed the issue of international partnerships to achieve the SDGs. Its participants discussed the participation of Turkmenistan in global environmental processes and support for UN environmental conventions.

Another event directly related to the preservation of the Caspian Sea in the context of SDG № 14. Data on environmental monitoring of the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea and the implementation of international environmental agreements were presented.

In general, the conferences demonstrated both the successes already achieved by Turkmenistan in various environmental SDGs, as well as plans for further environmental activities of the country.
