The US bans import of Turkmen cotton and products

The news outlet ANT reports that the US authorities have imposed a ban on the importation of all Turkmenistan cotton, or products produced in whole or in part with Turkmen cotton.

The reason behind the ban is that cotton and cotton products from Turkmenistan are made using forced labour and therefore are subject to arrest in case they are shipped to the US ports.

Let us recall that quite a few of the largest world brands including IKEA, H&M, Wrangler, Lee, Zara have refused to procure cotton and textile goods from Turkmenistan because child and forced labour is used during its harvesting.
