Trade Volume Between Turkmenistan, Tajikistan Nears $120 Million

In 2023, the trade volume between Turkmenistan and Tajikistan amounted to $118.36 million, as reported by the Biznes reklama newspaper on Monday.

According to the publication, within the framework of trade and economic cooperation, Tajikistan purchases oil, cottonseed oil, cement, and various other goods and products from Turkmenistan. Turkmenistan, in turn, imports aluminum and agricultural products from Tajikistan.

During the visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Dushanbe on April 4-5 of the current year, a Turkmen-Tajik business forum was held.

Following the forum, attended by representatives of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tajikistan, five agreements were signed between the business circles of Turkmenistan and Tajikistan.

On April 5, during a meeting with the Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kohir Rasulzoda, the National Leader of the Turkmen people proposed taking coordinated measures to increase the volume and diversify the range of trade turnover, including by promoting the development of direct links between private companies and business circles of the two countries.

It was also mentioned at the meeting that in order to develop trade and economic cooperation between Turkmenistan and Tajikistan, effective steps should be taken towards the practical implementation of the project to open Trade Houses in the capitals of the two states.
