Türkiye to Host Natural Gas Summit in Istanbul

Istanbul Gas Summit will be held in Istanbul on February 14-15 with the participation of natural gas producing countries from the Middle East, the Mediterranean Sea and the Caspian Sea regions and the gas consumer-countries from Europe, Anadolu Agency reported, citing the Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Fatih Donmez as saying on Monday.

According to the Turkish Minister, Turkey is preparing for the signing of a 10-year contract with Oman to purchase 1.4 billion cubic meters of gas per year.

The Energy Minister stressed that Türkiye acts in accordance with the principles of "energy diplomacy", aimed at transforming the country into an international gas hub.

Fatih Donmez also stated that Ankara, along with Bulgaria, is currently discussing gas supplies to Northern Macedonia, Romania and Moldova.

At the beginning of January this year, Fatih Donmez announced that Türkiye has begun work on the gas hub project proposed by Russia.
