Türkmenenergogurluşyk to Ink Contract With Afghan Energy Company

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on Saturday signed a Resolution authorizing the Türkmenenergogurluşyk (Turkmen Energy Construction) Concern of the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan to conclude a contract with the Afghan company Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) on the construction of open switchgear at the new electric station in Afghanistan.

The contract provides for the design, supply, construction, installation, testing and commissioning of open switchgear at the Nur el-Jahad electric station, located in Afghanistan’s western province of Herat, according to the official Turkmen media.

The state media said the Resolution was signed by President in order to increase the volume of Turkmen electricity supplied to foreign countries, as well as the successful implementation of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan power transmission line project.

The Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) project involves the construction of power lines from Turkmenistan to the provinces of Herat and Farah in Afghanistan and further to Pakistan.

A delegation from the Turkmen Ministry of Energy visited Kabul in Januar to expedite the legal and technical work of power supply projects, including the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) power transmission project.
