Turkmen activist Akhmed Rakhmanov detained by the Turkish authorities goes on hunger strike

The Turkmen Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights reports that that on 22 October, 2021 the Turkmen activist Akhmed Rakhmanov detained by the Turkish authorities went on hunger strike without water and food to protest against the policy pursued by Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov and his regime.

“I hope to draw the attention of the international community to numerous violations of rights of Turkmen nationals residing in Turkmenistan and abroad”, – he commented his decision.

On the first day other Turkmen nationals who had been placed in the same deportation centre Tuzla, not far from Istanbul, joined his hunger strike.
