Oguz Ýol Economic Society, which grows agricultural crops on 1,360 hectares of land in Kaka etrap of Turkmenistan’s Ahal velayat, uses natural flood waters for irrigation. To this end, the company has built seven reservoirs with an area of 4 million square meters, the local Rysgal newspaper reported on Monday.
Special waterproofing membranes were installed in the reservoirs to prevent the formation of drainage waters, land salinization and protect ecological biodiversity, according to the report.
The company operates an eight-hectare greenhouse that houses cutting edge technology from Europe. The production capacity of the greenhouse is 250 tons of tomatoes per hectare.
Oguz Ýol also planted 820 thousand seedlings of apple, cherry, peach, almond, olive and apricot on 655 hectares of land. The company aims to receive around 10 thousand tons of fruits in the first year of harvest, and 40 thousand tons in subsequent years. The seedlings are watered using drip irrigation method.
The company envisages planting of barley, wheat, potatoes, onions and other vegetables on additional 1,350 hectares of land.
Oguz Ýol presently employs about 500 specialists. Upon reaching the full production capacity, the company intends to increase the number of its employees to 1,000. Within the production area, the company has four dormitories for 650 people.
The agriculture producer expects to exports its tomatoes and other vegetables to Europe, Russia, Kazakhstan and the United Arab Emirates.
Oguz Ýol will build a refrigerated warehouse for storage of 10 thousand tons of vegetables and fruits next year.
