Turkmen Ambassador Holds Briefing at European Parliament

Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Belgium Sapar Palvanov held a briefing in Brussels for members of the European Parliament, including the European Parliament Delegation for relations with Central Asia and Mongolia. The meeting was chaired by delegation head and MEP Giuseppina Princi, the Turkmen Embassy in Belgium reported Tuesday.

The briefing highlighted the need to strengthen and modernize the legal framework for cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union. Officials noted that developing EU-Central Asia engagement at the strategic level requires a more structured dialogue with each country in the region.

The importance of regular high-level contacts and consistent inter-institutional coordination was also emphasized.

Palvanov outlined the upcoming interparliamentary dialogue on March 5 in Brussels, involving members of the Turkmen Mejlis, where a wide range of cooperation issues will be discussed, including economic ties, transport connectivity, humanitarian cooperation, and parliamentary exchanges.

He noted the significant potential for Turkmenistan-EU cooperation in the economy, climate agenda, sustainable development, and humanitarian dialogue, stressing the importance of deepening collaboration amid global challenges.

The briefing reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s commitment to constructive dialogue with the European Parliament and its focus on further developing a partnership with the EU based on mutual respect and shared interests.
