The third edition of the Saudi International Handicrafts Week, also known as Banan, is held from 13 to 26 November 2025 in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the patronage of Culture Minister Prince Bader bin Abdullah bin Farhan. About this reports MFA of Turkmenistan.
The gathering features participation from more than 40 countries, alongside over 400 local craftspeople.
The event, part of the Year of Handicrafts 2025, aims to empower local businesspeople, enabling them to enhance their market presence and leverage their skills.
This year Handicrafts Week attracted also the participants from Turkmenistan. Representatives of the State Academy of Arts of Turkmenistan showcased their hand-woven carpet products, silver jewelry and pottery.
Oguljennet Mollayeva, teacher of the Department of Applied and Decorative Arts of the State Academy of Arts of Turkmenistan highlighted that today’s event organized by the government the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia provides a wonderful opportunity to popularize the national heritage, and familiarize the visitors with the traditional Turkmen carpet making art in the Representative List of the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
The guests learned about various types of national jewelry such as "gulýaka", "tumar", "bilezik" and their cultural significance from Shazada Orazberdiyev, participant-teacher of the Department of Applied and Decorative Arts of the same Academy.
Hezretguly Annageldiyev, teacher at the State Academy of Arts of Turkmenistan, showcases his unique works to the visitors. There are elegant vases, jugs, figurines, and other pottery works among them. Each piece served as a special dedication to the International Year of Peace and Trust, Hezretguly noted.
