114 medals - 37 gold, 39 silver and 38 bronze - were won by Turkmen athletes at international competitions in January - April of this year. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister N. Amannepesov during a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Friday, reports the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.
According to the deputy chairman of the Turkmen Cabinet of Ministers, the country is carrying out effective work to develop physical culture and sports, as well as the Olympic movement, preparing national teams for the Olympic Games and international competitions.
On behalf of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, athletes who successfully performed in international competitions and took prizes were solemnly presented with awards.
Summarizing the report, the head of Turkmenistan instructed the Deputy Prime Minister to take appropriate measures for the effective management of sports facilities and the widespread involvement of young people in physical education and mass sports.
