Representatives of Turkmenistan were among the laureates of the International Competition “National Literary Award“ Golden Pen of Russia-2020 ”.Djumageldy Mulkiev, editor of the prose department of Dünyä edebiyaty (World Literature) magazine, was awarded a special diploma for merits in culture and art, and writer Agageldy Allanazarov was awarded in the category of children’s literature, for high artistic skill and humor of children’s poetry.
The Commonwealth project “The Golden Pen of Russia” has remained one of the most popular among the writers of the Russian-speaking world for many years.Over the years, prominent figures in literature, including Lev Anninsky, Rimma Kazakova, Yevgeny Yevtushenko and Mikhail Zadornov, have become members of the jury of the prestigious competition.
This year, 35 thousand literary works from 72 countries were submitted for the competition.
The fourth issue of the magazine “Dünyä edebiyaty” for 2020 published the poem “Four days in the Caspian Sea” by the president of the Commonwealth of Literary Communities, writer and journalist Svetlana Savitskaya, translated by Jumageldy Mulkiyev. This work, considered by the jury in the context of the International Competition, brought victory to the representative from Turkmenistan.
Dzhumageldy Mulkiev graduated from the Moscow Literary Institute named after Maxim Gorky in 1988.As a 22-year-old boy, he entered the Faculty of Poetry, as he not only wrote, but also translated the poems of his favorite authors.
Over the years, he switched to prose and began to create in the genre of a large form.In 2010, his historical novel “Seljuks” was published in Turkmenistan.
“We met Svetlana Savitskaya at a book exhibition that took place in Ashgabat,” says Dzhumageldy Mulkiev.A member of the Writers’ Union and a talented author, she presented several of her books as a keepsake to our magazine.
I really liked her poem “Four Days in the Caspian” and I decided to start translating it.It’s nice that my works were recognized at the International Competition.
Honored Art Worker, winner of the Magtymguly International Prize Agageldy Allanazarov is the author of various books for adults and children.The writer works in the Turkmen language, but his works are often translated and published abroad.
According to Allanazarov’s “Merry Alphabet”, preschoolers discover the alphabet and get acquainted with their native speech.Today the writer is working on his autobiographical novel “The White Rain That Was Yesterday”.
Not a day goes by when he does not receive a call about the epic novel in five volumes, The Hearth, which has been in the works for 30 years.
The popularity of the works of Agageldy Allanazarov is due to many years of literary and life experience.Like Dzhumageldy Mulkiev, he is a graduate of the poetry department of the Maxim Gorky Moscow Literary Institute.
I still write by hand, says Agageldy Allanazarov.It seems to me that only the hand conveys the soul, therefore, over the years of work, writer’s calluses have formed on the fingers.
This is the first time I participated in the competition “The Golden Pen of Russia”, and it was pleasant to receive a lot of positive feedback from the jury members.
The Russian language is a window into world literature, and although I write in my native Turkmen, I try to work with experienced translators.
In January of the coming year, the XVI competition of the National Literary Prize “Golden pen of Russia-2021” will be announced. Poets, writers, journalists, comedians, translators, historians and other literary figures from around the world can submit their works in the appropriate nominations.
