Turkmen Delegation Attends UNECE Regional Forum

A delegation of Turkmenistan led by Minister of Finance and Economy Muhammetgeldi Serdarov took part via link in a regional forum of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) on sustainable development, which started on Wednesday, the Turkmen ministry said in its press release.

The forum focuses on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the UNECE region.

In his speech, Minister Muhammetgeldi Serdarov informed about the measures to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Turkmenistan. He said at the beginning of this year the country adopted a long-term program for sustainable development the national program for the socio-economic development of the state for 2022-2052

At the beginning of the global pandemic, the Government of the country has taken urgent measures to mitigate the impact of the pandemic on the production sector of the economy, saving jobs and protecting citizens of the state.

The UNECE forum will last until April 7.

The UNECE, which brings together 56 countries, was created in 1947 by the UN Economic and Social Council. The main goal of the organization is to promote pan-European economic integration.
