Turkmen Enterprise Produces Hand-Made Carpet Products Worth 1.346 Million Manats

Türkmenhaly (Turkmen Carpets) State Association’s Dashoguz velayat carpet weaving enterprise and the enterprise’s branches in etraps of the velayat produced hand-made carpets and carpet products worth 1.346 million manats in the first quarter of 2021, achieving the production growth rate of 131%.

The enterprise specializes in the mass production of classic Turkmen hand-made carpets of different sizes, the density of which averages 290 thousand knots per square meter, the country’s official media reported on Wednesday.

This year, a new enterprise for the production of carpets and carpet products will open in the administrative center of Dashoguz velayat’s Gubadag etrap. The new enterprise, which will be equipped with modern carpet weaving machines, will create 160 jobs for the population.

Türkmenhaly is the main supplier of renowned Turkmen hand-made pure-wool carpets from Turkmenistan to the global markets. The association includes eight enterprises for the production of traditional Turkmen carpets and these enterprises in turn contain over 100 carpet weaving sites and workshops located in all velayats of Turkmenistan. These enterprises employ more than 5,000 carpet-weavers.
