Turkmen Foreign Minister Meets U.S. Secretary of State in Washington

Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov met with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio at the White House in Washington on May 29, 2026, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The two sides discussed the current state of Turkmen-U.S. relations and outlined prospects for further cooperation.

Both parties noted the positive momentum in bilateral political and diplomatic dialogue and underscored the importance of regular high-level contacts.

Special attention was given to cooperation in trade, economic, energy, and transport and communications sectors. The officials emphasized the importance of expanding mutually beneficial partnership, including efforts to strengthen energy security and diversify energy supply routes.

The talks also covered regional security issues, responses to contemporary challenges and threats, and cooperation in multilateral formats, including the C5+1 platform.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides highlighted the broad potential for further strengthening bilateral ties and reaffirmed their commitment to continuing constructive dialogue across all areas of mutual interest.
