Turkmenistan and Georgia signed a package of bilateral agreements following high-level talks between President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze in Tbilisi, the Turkmenistan newspaper reported.
President Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister Kobakhidze signed a Joint Declaration during a ceremony at the Georgian Government Administration. The documents expanded the legal framework for cooperation between the two countries across a range of sectors during Berdimuhamedov's official visit to Georgia.
The agreements include a Cooperation Program for 20272028 between the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and Georgia, a memorandum of understanding between the countries' prosecutor general's offices, and documents on cooperation in healthcare, education, culture, financial monitoring and state property management and privatization.
The two sides also signed agreements aimed at strengthening cooperation in the transport and maritime sectors, including a memorandum between Turkmenistan's Ministry of Railway Transport and Georgian Railways, as well as agreements between Turkmenistan's State Service of Maritime and River Transport and Georgia's Maritime Transport Agency on maritime safety, specialist training, and maritime education.
Additional documents cover cooperation in culture, arts, library services, education, and science, including memorandums between higher education institutions in Turkmenistan and Georgian universities.
The agreements are intended to deepen bilateral cooperation and outline practical areas for joint implementation.
