President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held one-on-one talks with Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili on Thursday during his state visit to Georgia, the Turkmenistan newspaper reported.
An official welcoming ceremony for Berdimuhamedov was held at the Orbeliani Presidential Palace before the two leaders met in a private format.
During the meeting, the presidents exchanged views on the current state and future prospects of bilateral cooperation and discussed priority areas for further collaboration. Particular attention was given to expanding cooperation in trade and the economy, transport and energy.
According to the report, deepening regional cooperation and strengthening relations with Georgia are among the priorities of Turkmenistan's foreign policy.In this regard, both countries expressed interest in diversifying bilateral trade, developing modern transport infrastructure to ensure efficient cargo transportation along the Caspian SeaBlack Sea route linking Central Asia and Europe, coordinating the capacities of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport and Georgia's Port of Poti, and exploring routes for delivering Turkmen energy resources to international markets through Georgia's transit network.
