Turkmen nationals residing abroad are unable to obtain a Certificate of No Impediment for years

It is extremely challenging for Turkmen nationals residing abroad to marry a foreign national or even a fellow Turkmen due to problems they face when trying to obtain necessary documents.

Correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report that it takes over a year to collect a set of documents in order to obtain a Certificate of No Impediment despite the fact that it validity is 3 months.

Staff of Turkmenistan’s diplomatic missions and consulates inform Turkmen nationals that obtaining necessary certificates and paperwork is a time-consuming process.

However, the problem can be solved after paying a bribe through intermediaries, not directly through staff of diplomatic missions. For instance, a Nurdjan D., who is registered in the residential district of “Gaudan B” in Ashgabat, provides this service to Turkmen migrant workers in Turkey.

She assists in obtaining a certificate from the Ministry of Adalat (Justice) and a corresponding letter signed by the Сonsul General within three months, for a fee of $3000.The post Turkmen nationals residing abroad are unable to obtain a Certificate of No Impediment for years first appeared on Chronicles of Turkmenistan.
