Turkmen news: former Deputy Prime Minister and the Presidential advisor for oil and gas Yagshigeldy Kakaev dies of pneumonia

The media outlet Turkmen News with reference to its sources reported that the advisor to the President of Turkmenistan for oil and gas Yagshidelgy Kakaev died in Ashgabat on 8 July, 2020.

According to the reports, Kakaev died on pneumonia. Based on some sources he had also been suffering from diabetes.

Yagshidelgy Kakaev last appeared in the newsfeed on 4 June when he was holding negotiations with Luca Vignati, the executive Vice President for Central Asia of the Italian oil company ENI, to discuss the optimization of investments in Turkmenistan.

Kakaev was appointed the Presidential advisor for oil and gas in December 2017.

In April 2017 he was dismissed from the post of the Deputy Prime Minister overseeing oil and gas for “weakening of control over the implementation of “the program for the development of Turkmenistan’s oil and gas industry up to 2030”.
