Turkmen President Condoles With Erdogan Over Deadly Coal Mine Explosion

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov sent condolences to his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan over the explosion at a coal mine in Bartin province, which resulted in numerous human casualties and injuries, the official Turkmen media reported on Saturday.

President Berdimuhamedov, on behalf of the people and Government of the country, as well as himself, conveyed words of empathy and support at this difficult moment to all the families and friends of the victims, as well as wishes for a speedy recovery to the victims.

The explosion occurred on Friday at the mine in the town of Amasra, in the Black Sea coastal province of Bartin, according to Turkish media.

At least 110 miners were working in the shaft when the explosion occurred. The blast killed 41 people. A total of 11 wounded workers are under treatment in hospitals.
