Turkmen President Congratulates Newly Elected President of Vietnam

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov has sent sincere congratulations and best wishes to Vo Van Thuong on his election as President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the official Turkmen media reported on Saturday.

Taking this opportunity, President Berdimuhamedov expressed his wishes of good health, energy and great success in all undertakings and deeds aimed at the progress and prosperity of the people of Vietnam to President Vo Van Thuong.

According to the TASS news agency, on Thursday the National Assembly (unicameral parliament) of Vietnam elected Vo Van Thuong, a Politburo member and permanent member of the secretariat of the ruling Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV)'s central committee, as the country's new President.

Vo Van Thuong, 52, became the 12th President in the history of modern Vietnam.
