Turkmen President Extends Condolences to Indonesian President Over Earthquake Victims

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdymukhamedov sent his deep condolences to President of Indonesia Joko Widodo over the earthquake in Java island, which caused human casualties and numerous injuries, the official Turkmen media reported on Monday.

The Head of State, on behalf of the people and Government of the country, as well as on his own behalf, conveyed words of deep sympathy and support to families and friends of the victims at this difficult moment, and wished a speedy recovery to the victims.

The 5.6-magnitude quake hit the mountainous region in Indonesia’s West Java province on Monday, causing landslides that buried entire villages.

The country’s National Agency for Disaster Management (BNPB) said the earthquake killed at least 268 people. A further 151 people remain missing and more than 1,000 were injured.
