Turkmen President Extends Condolences to Philippine President Following Earthquake

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov has sent a message of condolence to Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos following the earthquake off the coast of Mindanao Island that resulted in numerous casualties and injuries, Watan news program reported on Tuesday.

On behalf of the people and Government of Turkmenistan, as well as personally, the head of state expressed his sincere condolences and words of support to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives, and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.

According to preliminary data from the Philippine Civil Defense Service, at least 37 people were killed, 456 injured, and four remain missing as a result of the earthquake. Official Philippine media reported that rescue and recovery operations are still underway in the affected region, and information on the full extent of the disaster continues to be updated.

A powerful magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck early Monday morning off the coast of Mindanao Island in southern Philippines.
