Turkmen President Meets UN Secretary-General in New York

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, within the framework of a working visit to New York to participate in the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, met with the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Monday.

During the meeting held at the UN Secretariat Building, Guterres welcomed Turkmen President. Thanking President Berdimuhamedov for his personal participation in the global forum, Antonio Guterres stated the active and proactive position of Turkmenistan in cooperation with the UN.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov congratulated Guterres on the successful start of the 78th UN General Assembly, expressing confidence that it will make an important contribution to strengthening universal peace and security, promoting sustainable development in the world.

During the exchange of views on the priority areas of bilateral partnership, it was emphasized that Turkmenistan, guided by the principles of positive neutrality, implements the foreign policy course aimed at ensuring the well-being of the peoples of the region and the world.

On Monday, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov also held bilateral talks with the Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the President of the European Council Charles Michel, and the President of the Republic of Korea Yoon Suk Yeol.
