Within the framework of the first Republic of KoreaCentral Asia summit, scheduled for 2026, the first visit of Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to the Republic of Korea is planned.
This was stated by South Korean President Lee Jae-Myung in a congratulatory letter sent to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the occasion of his birthday, Turkmen state media reported on Sunday.
In the congratulatory letter, the President of the Republic of Korea expressed confidence that President Serdar Berdimuhamedov’s visit would be an important step toward raising bilateral relations to a new level. He also noted that three visits by Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the Republic of Korea had laid a solid foundation for the development of friendly bilateral cooperation.
In the letter, Lee Jae-Myung also expressed special gratitude for the comprehensive support provided in June last year and in March this year in connection with the evacuation, via Turkmenistan, of citizens of the Republic of Korea who were in Iran.
The President of the Republic of Korea also highly praised the active support for the activities of Korean companies in Turkmenistan and their participation in key projects in various fields, including shipbuilding and industrial construction and expressed confidence in the further strengthening of friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries.
