Turkmen Scientists Develop Technology for Local Hydrochloric Acid Production

Scientists of the Institute of Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan have developed a technology to produce technical hydrochloric acid, the official Turkmen media reported on Saturday.

According to the report, most of these products are imported from other countries to cater to various applications.

The Institute conducted several studies and experiments at the Karabogazcarbamide plant using bischofite from Garabogazgol Bay to obtain technical hydrochloric acid from local raw materials. As a result, they successfully produced technical hydrochloric acid with a concentration of 35-37.5 percent.

Hydrochloric acid production using local raw materials will fulfil the demands of various industries such as oil and gas, chemical, metallurgical, paper, medical, and paint. Furthermore, this development is anticipated to facilitate the export of this highly sought-after chemical product.

Industrial hydrochloric acid is produced by dissolving hydrochloride gas in water, resulting in a chemical reagent. This versatile compound finds application in manufacturing various products, including plastics, fertilisers, and salts. Additionally, it plays a crucial role in metal cleaning and treatment processes.
