Turkmen Scientists Managed to Synthesize New Antiseptic

Specialists of the Institute of Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan have synthesized a new antiseptic called Iodomal, TDH news agency reported on Monday.

The research was carried out in the “Water. Soil. Air" laboratory, which is the only KAMAZ based mobile ecological laboratory in Central Asia. The mobile laboratory allows to conduct relevant scientific research in various fields and solve complex practical problems, according to the report.

As a result, the scientists, by dissolving food starch, obtained a high-molecular compound, which is not inferior in properties to polyvinyl alcohol. The material synthesized by Turkmen specialists is unique in that it lengthens the interaction of iodine with body tissues, and also does not irritate the skin.

The researches made by the Public Health and Nutrition Center of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service of the Ministry of Healthcare and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan have revealed that the Iodomal has the same properties as iodonium which is extensively used in the world as an efficient antiseptic.

A new successful development of the Turkmen scientists can become a significant contribution to the development of domestic pharmaceuticals and bring tangible benefits by reducing imports and real profits in case of its export.
