Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan increased trade turnover by 5 times

The trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan increased 5 times from 2020. This was stated by SOCAR Vice President Elshad Nassirov during the International Oil and Gas Forum in Ashgabat.

According to the Deputy Chairman of the State Oil Company, Azerbaijan is interested in cooperation with the countries of the Caspian region and unlocking the potential of the Caspian Sea. And to achieve this, Azerbaijan sees the need for joint efforts.

Elshad Nassirov noted that the Turkmen-Azerbaijani relations are linked by centuries-old friendship, common culture and faith. More than 100 documents on strategic partnership signed between the states.

The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on joint exploration, development and exploitation of the Dostluk hydrocarbon field in the Caspian Sea on January 21, 2021 was particularly emphasized.

Cooperation in the area of transport, where some progress is planned in bilateral relations was also noted.

In conclusion, the SOCAR Vice President addressed the Forum participants, wishing them success and good luck with the words from the work of the great Turkmen poet Makhtumkuli: "Wherever the roads lead Turkmen, the mountain eras of the earth will give way."

The International Oil and Gas Forum "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan" started its work in Ashgabat today. The Conference will continue until March 30.
