Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan recorded a threefold increase in trade turnover

In January-August 2023, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan will almost triple their trade turnover compared to the same period last year. The Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Azerbaijan, Sahil Babayev, said this at a gala evening on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence in Baku, reports Day.az.

In just 8 months of this year, mutual trade turnover between the countries reached 645 million USD. The head of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Labor also emphasized the importance of the Memorandum on joint exploration, development and development of the “Dostluk” hydrocarbon field in the Caspian Sea signed in 2021.

This agreement is of strategic importance for the entire region, Babayev emphasized. It will promote prosperity, strengthen stability and peace, and ensure energy security.

Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan Gurbanmamet Elyasov spoke about the country’s achievements over the years of independence and emphasized the high level of relations between Ashgabat and Baku. He noted that currently, from geopolitical and geo-economic points of view, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan play a key role at the crossroads of transport, communication and energy routes of Eurasia.
