Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan to Expand Cooperation in the Transport and Transit Sector

The transport and transit sector was one of the key topics discussed during talks between the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, held in Baku.

The two leaders emphasized that their countries' advantageous geographic location at the crossroads of Asia and Europe enables them to play a leading role in the development of international logistics corridors.

During the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov highlighted the successful operation of the existing AfghanistanTurkmenistanAzerbaijanGeorgiaTürkiye transport route.In addition, both sides expressed support for a new initiative to establish a Caspian SeaBlack Sea transport corridor, which would connect Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Romania.

The President of Turkmenistan stressed that linking the Caspian and Black Sea regions would create new opportunities for trade, economic, and investment cooperation.To facilitate the practical implementation of these plans, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov proposed intensifying the activities of the Turkmen-Azerbaijani Commission on Transport, Transit, and Logistics.
