Turkmenistan and Russia agreed to develop inter-parliamentary ties

Turkmenistan and Russia will develop inter-parliamentary ties. Speaker of the Mejlis of Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gulshat Mammedova and Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko agreed on this today during a telephone conversation.

According to the State News Agency of Turkmenistan, during the conversation, the need was noted for the further development of inter-parliamentary multilateral formats of interaction with a view to the future. In this regard, the parties discussed the possibility of holding a high-level inter-parliamentary forum in Turkmenistan next year.

The Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation also invited the delegation of Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan to take part in the regular 53rd meeting of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly in November this year, which will be held in St. Petersburg.

The Chairperson of the Mejlis congratulated the head of the upper chamber of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on the successful holding of elections of deputies to the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, noting also the high organizational level of the third Eurasian Women's Forum, which made it possible to exchange views and experience, familiarize with best practices on its topics.

The Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation warmly thanked her colleague for the congratulations and for the participation of the delegation of Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan in observing the elections of deputies to the State Duma of the eighth convocation.

At the same time, gratitude was expressed for the participation of representatives of our country online in the Eurasian Women's Forum, which was organized last week by the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation jointly with the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS member states.
