Turkmenistan and Russia considered issues of interparliamentary cooperation

Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Russian Federation Esen Aydogdyev held a meeting with Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev. The main goal of the negotiations was to deepen inter-parliamentary ties between the two countries and intensify joint work within various formats of cooperation, reports the IIC.

Konstantin Kosachev emphasized Russia's interest in expanding contacts with Muslim states, including through participation in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

Kosachev expressed his intention to add additional dynamics to regular meetings of the heads of parliaments of the two countries, as well as to intensify work within the framework of the “Ashgabat format” - an interparliamentary platform of the countries of Central Asia and Russia.

For his part, Ambassador Esen Aydogdyev noted that, on behalf of the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the Turkmen side will promote the further development of inter-parliamentary relations with Russia.
