Turkmenistan and Tajikistan Mull Establishment of Air Flights

Director General of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Mammetkhan Chakiyev met with Ambassador of Tajikistan to Turkmenistan Vafo Niyatbekzoda in Ashgabat on Tuesday. The discussion during the meeting revolved around the establishment of air connectivity between the two nations.

According to the Tajik Foreign Ministry, the parties also considered the current state and potential for bilateral cooperation in the field of transportation and communications, including matters concerning cargo transportation.

During the Fifth Consultative Meeting of Heads of Central Asian States in Dushanbe on September 14 of this year, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov proposed the introduction of the Central Asian Transport and Logistics Platform.

According to Pressident Berdimuhamedov, this platform can address various matters related to the development of transportation hubs in the region, the enhancement of existing transit corridors, the creation of new corridors, and the streamlining and coordination of customs, migration, and other procedures along international transport routes that pass through the territories of the participating countries.
