Consul General of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Türkiye Ovezgeldi Jumanazarov and the governor of Istanbul Davut Gül emphasized the importance of further strengthening bilateral relations based on the principles of friendship, mutual respect and mutually beneficial cooperation during a meeting held March 11, 2026.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the meeting between the Turkmen diplomat and the governor of Istanbul took place at the Istanbul provincial administration building in Türkiye.
During the talks, the sides noted that active work is underway to develop cooperation between Turkmenistan and Türkiye in trade and economic sectors, as well as in culture, science and education, health care and sports.
The sides also exchanged views on organizing events at a high level dedicated to the proclamation of 2026 under the motto “Independent neutral Turkmenistan − the homeland of purposeful winged horses,” as well as the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence.
