Turkmenistan and UNFPA discussed intensifying cooperation

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Myahri Byashimova held a meeting with the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) Gender Advisor Leila Sharafi, who arrived in the Turkmen capital to participate in the “Dialogue is a Guarantee of Peace” forum, reports the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.

The parties noted the active gender policy of Turkmenistan, aimed at strengthening the principles of equal participation of women in all spheres of social and political life.

Turkmenistan’s commitment to its obligations under the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women and its Optional Protocol was also emphasized.

In addition, the parties discussed the prospects for further cooperation between Turkmenistan and UNFPA in the field of promoting gender equality, reproductive health and improving legislation in relevant areas.
