Turkmenistan approves rules for installing tactile ground indicators for the visually impaired

The Minister of Construction and Architecture of Turkmenistan, Guvanch Orunov, approved the guidelines for the installation of tactile ground sings for people with visual impairments.

This document refers to special tactile indicators that are used to mark paths for visually impaired people and can be recognized with a cane or by touch.

The instructions state that the materials and technologies used for displays must comply with the technical requirements, their purpose, placement, use and basic arrangement rules.

The rules also provide for the principles of “universal design” and “comprehensive adaption” to ensure equal living conditions for all categories of persons in industrial and public buildings, structures and transport infrastructure facilities.
