Turkmenistan on Thursday approved the use of Russia’s single-dose COVID-19 vaccine Sputnik Light.
The Ministry of Healthcare and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan issued the corresponding registration certificate for the vaccine, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry announced on its website.
Sputnik Light has already been authorized in more than 15 countries with the registration process ongoing in a further 30 countries.
More countries are reportedly starting to use Sputnik Light as booster, which strengthens neutralizing antibody response to Omicron induced by SputnikV.
Production of this vaccine is planned in more than 10 countries. The manufacture of the Sputnik Light vaccine should begin in the near future in India, China, South Korea, Vietnam, Mexico, Argentina, Serbia and Turkey.
President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on Tuesday hosted a working meeting mainly focused on preventing the importation and spread of the new omicron strain of coronavirus infection.
In January this year, Turkmenistan approved the use of two Russian COVID-19 vaccines Sputnik-V and EpiVacCorona.
