Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan Prepare for High-Level Leader Meetings

Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov met with Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Turkmenistan, Gismat Gezalov, in Ashgabat to discuss organizing high-level visits and meetings between leaders and representatives of the two countries.

The diplomats reviewed preparations for key events this year, including the upcoming session of the Turkmen-Azerbaijan Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported.

Officials exchanged views on current priorities in Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan political, diplomatic, and trade relations.

Meredov and Gezalov discussed prospects for strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties, including the planned Azerbaijani Culture Days in Turkmenistan this year.

Diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan were established on June 9, 1992.
