The Turkmen people on Wednesday celebrated the Day of the Constitution and the State Flag of Turkmenistan.
This year, the country celebrates the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the main law and the establishment of the national flag.
To mark the occasions, a flower-laying ceremonies, with the participation of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, was held at the Constitution Monument and the Main Flag of the country in capital Ashgabat, the official Turkmen media reports.
The ceremonies were also attended by members of the Government, heads of the parliament, military and law enforcement agencies, governors of Ashgabat and provinces, honorary elders, representatives of public organizations, students, cultural workers and residents of the capital.
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov in his congratulatory message said, published by the media, said, “The Basic Law and the State Banner of an independent neutral Turkmenistan are the embodiment of a glorious history, a guarantor of a happy today and a great future for the country, as well as a national treasure, confirming the inviolability and perpetuity of the principles of statehood of our people.”
The Head of State wished “good health, a prosperous and happy life, great success in activities for the sake of the further prosperity of our native Fatherland!”.
Day of Constitution and National Flag was established as a public holiday on December 26, 1994 and is celebrated annually on May 18.
